Kay Mitchell is an Advance Nurse Practitioner. She is an experienced specialist nurse who is able to examine, diagnose and prescribe for some of the most common conditions in General Practice. They can also make referrals to hospital doctors & health care professionals and admit patients to hospital where necessary.
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for our Diabetic Clinic.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Working alongside, supporting our Practice Nurses, we have Treatment Room Nurses, Phlebotomist and a Health Care Assistant.
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

The role of the District Nursing Team is to carry out nursing care to patients who are housebound and unable to get to the surgery. Along with the provision of nursing care they also provide support and information to the patient, their carer and the family.
The community nursing team work in partnership with the patient and co-ordinate a network of care and support, work in collaboration with GPs, Marie Curie Nursing Service, Social Services and other Health Care Professionals to deliver person centred care.
Their main focus is wound management, continence management, long term conditions, care of the terminally ill and palliative care.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
